Als Erfinder des Thyroflex werden Konrad Kail (1949-2011) und Daryl V. Turner genannt. Beide gründeten 2006 die Firma NiTek International, Inc., und sind Inhaber eines Patents zu Thyroflex. Kail war ein amerikanischer naturopath (vergleichbar mit dem [[Heilpraktiker]] in Deutschland. Er war Mitgründer des Southeast College of Naturopathic Medicine und war Vorsitzender der American Association of Naturopathic Physicians.
