Robert W. Bradford

Robert Bradford ou Bob Bradford ou Robert W. Bradford ou Robert William Bradford, décédé le 4 août 2011 âgé de 80 ans, était un entrepreneur américain, inventeur, et fondateur en 1995 du moulin à diplômes "Capital University of Integrative Medicine" (CUIM) à Washington D.C. qui a été fermé en 2002. Bradford se parait lui-même de deux titres de "Docteur". En 1972, il avait fondé le "Committee for Freedom of Choice in Medicine" (Comité pour la liberté de choix en médecine) qui oeuvrait pour l'amygdaline . Bradford se décrivait aussi comme "Director of Research" d'un "Bradford Research Institute" qu'il avait fondé lui-même.

Bradford gèrait un réseau d'entreprises, certaines vendaient des suppléments alimentaires et un système de microscope de son invention, d'autres gèraient une clinique privée mexicaine à Tijuana, un "organisme de recherche" ainsi qu'un simulacre d'Université, la CUIM (Capital University of Integrative Medicine). Une autre firme fondée par Braford est le "American Biologies Inc" (AB).

Robert Bradford, sa collègue Brigitte G. Bird et John R. Toth avaient été accusés de conspiring to violate federal food and drug laws and defraud individuals seeking medical care (conspiration en vue de violer les lois fédérales sur la nourriture et les médicaments) et pour avoir escroqué des personnes cherchant des soins médicaux) car ils avaient proposé des remèdes inefficaces pour la maladie de Lyme ainsi que la prétendue identification par microscope de celle-ci. Cela a valu à Toth d'être jeté en prison pendant 40 mois car il avait été fait un diagnostic erroné à une patiente et qu'elle avait pris un remède inapproprié dont elle est morte. Bradford avait été condamné pour importation illégale d'Amydaline aux USA.

Capital University of Integrative Medicine (CUIM)

Bradford avait fondé en 1985 la firme "University of Integrative Medicine" (Université de médecine intégrative) à Washington (DC). Dans cette firme, il était possible d'obtenir des titres comme "Professor of Energy Medicine". A la CUIM, Robert Bradford, qui lui-même n'avait pas le baccalauréat, faisait fonction de "Professor of oxidology" dans le "Department of Microbiology, Microscopy and Oxidology", était en union personnelle "Professor of Medicine", "Vice Chairman" (Vice-président), "Treasurer" et siégeait au "Board of Trustees" (conseil d'administration).

Le biologiste diplômé et rapatrié (roumain) d’Europe de l’Est de descendance allemande John Gruia Ionescu, directeur de la"Spezialklinik Neukirchen" à Neukirchen beim Heiligen Blut dans la forêt bavaroise Bayerischen Wald, a revendiqué un titre de Professeur à la CUIM. Ionescu a affirmé être Maître de conférence-CUIM et Professor for Clinical Biochemistry and Oxidology . Sur une obscure oxidology (Oxidologie), on ne trouve aucune entrée dans le wikipedia anglais. Dans la clinique de Neukirchen d'Ionescu ont été effectués des traitements avec le médicament Regividerm (maintenant rebaptisé) auquel était fait de la promo au moyen de publicité clandestine. Ionescu est également propriétaire d'une firme basée à Munich qui vend des sous-vêtements (imagine dessous cosmetics) ainsi que d'autres entreprises (Energy cosmetic GmbH & Co. KG).

Le dentiste et Heilpraktiker munichois Johann Lechner se qualifie aussi de conférencier au CUIM.

  In 2008, Robert W. Bradford, C.R.B., Inc. (d/b/a American Biologics), C.R.B.'s chief operating officer Brigitte G. Bird, and John R. Toth, M.D. were charged with conspiring to violate federal food and drug laws and defraud individuals seeking medical care. The indictment (shown below) stated that Bradford, C.R.B., and Bird marketed[u] bogus Lyme disease products[/u] and [u]a microscope falsely claimed to diagnose the disease[/u]. Bradford, who founded CRB, claims to be a doctor and a professor but has no relevant degree from an accredited school. Toth is serving a prison sentence for manslaughter related to the death of a woman whom he falsely diagnosed with Lyme disease and treated with a dangerous intravenous product sold by American Biologics. Bradford has a long history of quackery-related activities. In 1977, he was convicted of conspiring to smuggle laetrile (a quack cancer remedy) into the United States.

C.R.B. was fined $1,000 plus a $400 asessment; the others were assed $100. All were placed on probation—the Bradfords and C.R.B. for 5 years and Byrd for 3. Toth, who had already served 26 months in prison, was sentenced to time served. C.R.B. was permitted to remain in business but was barred from marketing drugs or medical devices with illegal claims. The court also imposed forfeture judgments (representing the proceeds obtained by the illegal activity), with Carole Bradford and C.R.B. jointly liable for $700,000, Robert Bradford jointly liable for $400,000, Toth jointly liable for $25,100, and Byrd jointly liable for $10,000 [44]. In his presentencing statement, Bradford told the court that he has metastatic prostate cancer and was advised in April 2010 that only 5% of patients with his condition survive three years. He died on August 4, 2011 at the age of 80.
