Doreen Virtue claims to hold a Ph.D. in counseling psychology from California Coast University, which was not accredited when she attended it, but was regarded a [[diploma mill]]. She claims to have worked in two psychiatric facilities, one in Tennessee, the other in Bay Area, San Francisco. During her childhood, Virtue claimed to see deceased persons, and was allegedly unable to tell them apart from living persons.
