Als Hypothesen zur Erklärung des angeblich unerklärlichen Phänomens führt Shah zum einen die wissenschaftlich gut bekannte Hungeradaptation des Fastenden an, die zu einem Rückgang der benötigten täglichen Kalorien führt (nach Shah auf 500-600 cal).

Hinzu kommen von Shah, der nebenbei auch Anhänger der "Eiskristalle" von [[Masaru Emoto]] ist, jedoch mehrere esoterische Hypothesen. So könne nach Shah auch die Aufnahme "kosmischer Energie" von der Sonne als Energieträger des Menschen in Frage kommen. Als Quellen der angeführten esoterischen Energieform nennt Shah die Sonne, Erde, Wasser, Pflanzen und andere Menschen, als "cosmic sources of energy":<br>''[...] Here, we have discussed about the Sun energy, but one may learn to use any source from the cosmos, ie. Über eine Nervenverbindung von Auge zum Hypothalamus gelange auch Licht-Information zur [[Melatonin|Zirbeldrüse]] (glandula pinealis). Die Zirbeldrüse sei das „3.&nbsp;Auge“ des Menschen und unter Berufung auf ''ancient Indian spiritual texts'' und ''Western occult & new age'' zeige sich, dass in der Zirbeldrüse ''The activation of pineal gland is the key step in psychic, spiritual & energy transformation processes. Here in this gland, energy processing & re distribution might be taking place [...] Its activation can be done with prolonged yoga & meditation techniques or through practice of solar energy. The later does not use classic yoga steps. So pineal activation and charging through solar energy is the vital step & that is the doorway of energy highway. This may be kundlini shakti activation, in other words.''

Diese von Shah vorgestellte [[pseudowissenschaft]]liche Methode ist weitgehend identisch mit einer Sonderform des [[Lichtfasten]]s: das gefährliche [[Sungazing|Sonnenschauen / Sungazing]]. Beim Sungazing blickt der Anwender über lange Zeit (bis zu einer Stunde) bei geöffneten Augen in das Sonnenlicht, in der Hoffnung sich auf diese esoterische Weise zu "ernähren". Augenschäden und Blindheit können die Folge sein.  

Diese von Shah vorgestellte [[pseudowissenschaft]]liche Methode ist weitgehend identisch mit einer Sonderform des [[Lichtfasten]]s: das gefährliche [[Sungazing|Sonnenschauen / Sungazing]]. Beim Sungazing blickt der Anwender über lange Zeit (bis zu einer Stunde) bei geöffneten Augen in das Sonnenlicht, in der Hoffnung sich auf diese esoterische Weise zu "ernähren". Augenschäden und Blindheit können die Folge sein.
