International Biographical Centre
Das International Biographical Centre (IBC - auch International Biographical Association) ist ein englisches Verlagsunternehmen im Besitz der Firma Melrose Press Ltd. In Cambridgeshire zur Vermarktung von biographischen Daten (Personalenzyklopädien), Titeln und Phantasiezertifikaten.
Ein analoges Unternehmen ist die American Biographical Institute (ABI) in Raleigh, North Carolina (USA).
Personalenzyklopädie der IBC
Die in den Personalenzyklopädien der IBC zu den einzelnen Personen gemachten Angaben stammen dabei von den thematisierten Personen selbst, die auf diese Weise eine Biographie im gewünschte Sinne beeinflussen können. Im Falle von Zuwendungen durch verzeichneten Personen kommt es dabei zusätzlich zu einem umfangreicheren Eintrag und diesem Personenkreis wird die Möglichkeit gegeben sich bei der IBC bestimmte Auszeichnungen zu erkaufen.
Titelhandel
Für eine Gebühr zwischen 100 und 1000 Dollar bietet das IBC „Auszeichnungen“ unabhängig von persönlichen Leistungen an. Diese werden als Award, diploma oder Zertifikat bezeichnet. Die symbolisch genannte Gebühr fällt dabei für den Druck, Rahmung und Herstellung der Papiere an.
