*Retrospektive Studie an 15 Patienten an der Universität Witten-Herdecke.<ref>https://www.psiram.com/ge/images/1/17/Groenemeyer_ECT_Studie.jpg</ref> Durchgeführt von einer Gruppe um Dietrich Grönemeyer. Der Autor bezeichnet die Studie selbst als retrospektiv. Auch sei sie lediglich durchgeführt worden, um die Verträglichkeit der ECT zu beurteilen, nicht um eine etwaige Wirksamkeit zu belegen. Die Patienten waren vorbehandelt und wurden auch während der Studie weiter mit herkömmlichen anerkannten Therapien weiterbehandelt. Die Studie kommt zum Ergebnis dass die Behandlung der ECT "geeignet" sei und von den Patienten "gut toleriert" worden sei.

*In einer 2007 bei Radiology veröffentlichten prospektiv angelegten Studie des Frankfurter Radiologen Vogl berichten die Autoren über 44 Männer mit Prostatakrebs, die nicht vorbehandelt gewesen seien.<ref>Thomas J. Mayer: Prostate Cancer: MR Imaging–guided Galvanotherapy—Technical Development and First Clinical Results, Radiology, (2007) 245,3</ref> Demnach habe sich bei einem Teil der Männer die Tumorgröße verringert, als Nebenwirkungen traten Schwierigkeiten beim Wasserlassen und vorübergehende Lähmungen der Beine auf. Zur Studie liegt bei Radiology auch ein Expression of concern (Kressel HY) vor, der 2009 veröffentlicht wurde. Radiology schreibt (2009): ''We subsequently received a letter, presented below, from Dr Vogl and colleagues at the University of Frankfurt, Germany, indicating that their review of the available data does not allow valid conclusions regarding the effectiveness and clinical utility of the technique. We await further animal and clinical studies to clarify the validity of the reported findings.''<ref>http://pubs.rsna.org/doi/full/10.1148/radiol.2521090708</ref> Thomas Vogl schreibt selbst dazu: ''Following the analysis of the data reported in our article (1), including a meta-analysis of the Internet-available raw data of the summarized study, and with the study protocol submitted to the Ethics Committee of the University of Frankfurt, we think that the available data for galvanotherapy of prostate cancer does not allow any valid conclusion regarding the effectiveness and the clinical utility of the procedure because of the study's deficient methodology.<br>For this reason, galvanotherapy is currently no longer used at our institution as a clinical procedure in the treatment of prostate cancer.<br>Because of the inadequate theoretic foundation, the biophysical principle of galvanotherapy should be studied initially in cell cultures and then on prostate cancer models with nude mice before a new study protocol is developed. All trials at our institution will be carried out in cooperation with the Department of Urology and Pediatric Urology.'' Demnach sei die Studie nicht geeignet eine Wirksamkeit der ECT nachzuweisen. Die Methode werde auch nicht weiter untersucht.
