The AIAS founder and President is Prof. Myron W. Evans, who has recently received two high honors of the British Government, a Civil List Pension in 2005, and armorial bearings in 2008. Prof. Evans has also received numerous nominations during his career, including nominations in 2000 for the King Faisal International Prize and nominations in 2002 for a Wolf Prize. He has also been twice nominated for a knighthood by several nominators. He was raised to the mediaeval rank of Gentleman on 7th July 2008, with arms displayed on this home page. These arms were featured in the College of Arms Newsletter of 2008. The College of Arms is part of the Royal Household. These things are always subjective, but this rank may be said to be roughly equivalent in merit to a life peerage (Baron), but of course without a seat in the House of Lords. Therefore the arms were featured in preference to new arms given to some knights in the same newsletter.
