Die emotional tone scale nach Hubbard (auch "Emotionsskala", kurz "tone scale") ist eine subjektive Beschreibung menschlichen Verhaltens des US-amerikanischen Science-Fiction-Autors und Erfinders von Scientology, L. Ron Hubbard. Hubbard stellte seine "emotional tone scale" erstmals 1951 in seinem Werk "Science of Survival" vor.
Die "tone scale" wird von Scientologen zu einer eigentümlichen Charakterisierung von Personen eingesetzt, etwa beim so genannten Auditing. Allgemein soll der gefundene Zahlwert etwas zur Spiritualität aussagen, bzw. wie "lebhaft" oder "tot" jemand im Sinne der scientologischen Ideologie sei.
Scientologen glauben auch, dass bei bestimmten tone-Werten der jeweilige Mensch empfänglicher für bestimmte Krankheiten sei, oder eine spätere Entwicklung hin zu einem sexuell perversen Verhalten und auch zur Homosexualität abzusehen sei.
Zu Personen, denen er einen tone-Wert unter +2,0 zuordnet, schrieb Hubbard:
- any person from 2.0 down on the tone scale should not have, in any thinking society, any civil rights of any kind, because by abusing those rights they bring into being arduous and strenuous laws which are oppressive to those who need no such restraints.
- There are only two answers for the handling of people from 2.0 down on the tone scale, neither of which has anything to do with reasoning with them or listening to their justification of their acts. The first is to raise them on the Tone Scale by unenturbulating some of their theta by any one of the three valid processes. The other is to dispose of them quietly and without sorrow. Adders are safe bedmates compared to people on the lower bands of the tone scale.

Die tone scale ist in 80 Zahlenwerte unterteilt. Der Zahlenumfang geht von -40 (Totalversager mit Interesse für Tod und Zerstörung) bis +40 (Maximalwert für kreative und glückliche Menschen).
Allgemein ordnen sich praktizierende Scientologen selbst automatisch in die oberen Bereiche der Skala ein, und das Scientology-auditing soll den Wert anheben können.
